Balitang Sandigan: PLARIDEL’S SANTIAGO APOSTOL PARISH CELEBRATED 422ND PARISH FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY (10.04.24)

On September 27, 2024, the people of Plaridel or Plarideleños commemorated the 422nd anniversary of the founding of the Parish of Santiago Apostol in Plaridel, Bulacan. It starts with a procession from the visitor of the Holy Cross in Brgy. Old Town with the image of Santiago Apostle towards the parish. Associate Parish priest Father Samuel Estrope II led the procession.

This procession also includes dancers from Brgy. Sto. Niño, those who serve in the parish and devotees of Santiago Apostle. After the image arrived at the parish, there was a prayer of the Holy Rosary followed by a Holy Mass led by Father Rufino "Peng" Sulit, Parish Priest and Father Samuel.
According to the history of the parish, the Spanish missionaries went to Quingua (Plaridel) to teach the Living Christian Faith and set up a visitor in Brgy. Lumang Bayan to fulfill the teaching of spiritual life here.

According to Father Pedro Gallende, the Vicariate is a church and the presiding priest is not officially appointed by the Archbishop or Bishop who covers that area but is only assigned by the Provincial Father who presides over the said Parish or Church.

In short, the priests who teach in Quingua are still from Malolos. But on the 27th of September year 1602, Quingua was already a Vicariato that separated it from Malolos.
