Encouraging the Faithful to Return to Sunday Masses in Churches

A Circular Letter of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)

We strongly encourage our faithful to return to the Sunday Eucharist with a purified heart, renewed amazement, and increased desire to meet the Lord, to be with him, to receive him and bring him to our brothers and sisters with the witness of a life full of faith, love and hope.

These circumstances permit and oblige us to return to the normality of Christian life, which has the Church building as its home of the celebration of the liturgy, especially the Eucharist, as “the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed, at the same time it is the font from which all her power flows” (SC, 10).

Ang Katotohanan ang Magpapalaya sa Inyo (Juan 8:32)

A Pastoral Letter of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)

“The Truth Will Set You Free” (John 8:32)

A Pastoral Letter of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

May the peace of Jesus be ours, He who said:

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.John 8:31-32

As we commemorate the EDSA People Power Revolution this February 25, the day we reclaimed our freedom, we call upon you brothers and sisters, whatever your political color or status in society.

Pastoral Statement on Ecology

Then God spoke to Noah, saying, “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth. (Genesis 8:15-17)

Dear People of God,

Today, COVID-19 has taken more than 5.62 million1 lives globally and plunged nations into economic devastation. As we strive to recover from this crisis, the pause imposed by the pandemic on industrial and economic activity encourages us to reflect on the decades of polluting practices our Common Home has had to suffer at the hands of humanity – practices which nations around the world are now, sadly, swiftly returning to.

Pastoral Letter on Stewardship

“As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another
as good stewards of God’s varied graces.” (1 Pet.4:10)

Dear People of God,

We mark this year the 500th year of the coming to our shores of the Christian Faith. Our commemoration of the event is an acknowledgment of this immense gift to our people and our land. We did not only receive the Faith, but also allowed it to take root and grow in our Filipino culture throughout these years. With this gift of Faith, we have become God’s people, partakers of “divine mysteries” (1 Cor 4:1). We are grateful to God for this immeasurable gift.

An Open Letter of the Filipino Youth to the Catholic Church in the Philippines

The Year of the Youth is indeed a journey of encounter with Jesus, accompanied by Mary, the Star of the New Evangelization. In this journey, we tell the story of the Filipino youth with our Risen Lord; we, young Filipinos and Filipinas, listen to Jesus, the Youth Minister par excellence and, as we are blessed and gifted during this journey, we are empowered to witness to and share our faith.

REJOICE AND BE GLAD: 117TH CBCP PLENARY ASSEMBLY STATEMENT

This CBCP Pastoral Letter is a reflection on holiness today amidst the challenges of modern Filipino society, filled with religious indifferentism, moral relativism and crimes against humanity.

CBCP pastoral guidelines for discerning the moral dimension of the present-day moves for Charter change

“To change or not to change the Constitution, that is the fermenting political question of the day. The move for Charter change is, and has been, the proposed vehicle to adopt Federalism as a new form of government. But ignored in the welter of political opinions regarding Charter change is the fundamental moral dimension of this human political act.”

CBCP PASTORAL EXHORTATIONS ON THE YEAR OF THE CLERGY AND CONSECRATED PERSONS

“The year 2018 is dedicated to the Clergy and Consecrated Persons. They comprise just a small portion of the Church, yet they are fulfilling a vital role in her mission. In our culture, they are greatly instrumental for the lay to become truly an evangelized and evangelizing community of disciples. Yet they are not immune to the twin errors of a dichotomy of faith and inadequate discipleship of Christ.”
