Check out the Catechism on the Covering of Images featured today on the Facebook page of Ang Batingaw - Saint Augustine Parish Baliwag, Bulacan, one of the well-known churches in the Diocese of Malolos for traditional celebrations during Holy Week. According to the catechism, it is customary to do the veiling every 5th Sunday of Lent or what is called "Passiontide Sunday" in the old Church calendar. It is also said here that: "It also helps our "fasting of the eyes" and focuses our attention on the most important part of the Catholic faith: the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This is the greatest mystery in our faith. If Jesus did not suffer, die, and rise again, no Church, no forgiveness of sins." We are reminded that: "When the images are covered, we will see nothing but purple or red cloths. Our church seems to have lost its 'color', it becomes sad, it seems to be in a void. It invites us to meditate on the death of the Lord Jesus, as we await the resurgence of light and color in our houses of prayer, and in our hearts, on the Night of the Resurrection." #AngSandiganMalolos #sandigankaalaman #DioceseofMalolos #AngBatingawOnline #PassiontideSunday #FastingoftheEyes
