Caritas Philippines Regional Assembly of Central Luzon and National Capital Region The Fifth Regional Assembly is currently being held this August 25th of Caritas Philippines which includes the National Capital Region and Central Luzon.
Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, Bishop of Kidapawan and President of Caritas Philippines started with a speech where he shared the Priority Programs of Caritas PH including the importance of CSA Centers in each Diocese, strengthening the Partnership of Social Action Centers, and the launch of Caritas Academic Centers.
Father Antonio Labiao, Jr., the Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Social Action, Justice and Peace (ECSJAP) of the CBCP is currently discussing the purpose of this gathering including the discussion of the 7 Alay Kapwa Legacy Programs and Resource Mobilization Programs. He also discussed the presentation of the Good Governance Program and the importance of expanding the relationship between communities and other sectors of the church and government.

Caritas Philippines presented the Simbayanihan (Good Governance) program and the Expanded Alay Kapwa Campaign. Fr. Tito Caluag, the head of the AK Expanded Campaign, gave a presentation about the campaign and how it will help in the sustainability, replicability, and scalability of the 7 Alay Kapwa Legacy Programs in the 86 Dioceses.
The participants also identified and discussed the challenges within their region and identified some recommendations and areas of collaboration. Five Regional Coordinators were selected for the following positions:
Regional Coordinator: Fr. Melchor (DSAC Malolos) Regional Coordinator for Justice and Peace: Fr. Allan (DSAC Kalookan) Regional Coordinator for Good Governance: Fr. Aldrin (DSAC Cabanatuan) Regional Coordinator for Ecology: Fr. Moises (DSAC Antipolo) Regional Coordinator for Humanitarian: Fr. Rick (DSAC San Jose)
The assembly was a success and helped to strengthen the collaboration between DSACs in the NCR and Central Luzon. The new Regional Coordinators are committed to working together to address the challenges facing their region and to promote the values of social justice and solidarity.
