The Most Reverend Dennis C. Villarojo, D.D., Bishop of Malolos expressed his condolences for the death of a believer after the collapse of a part of the second floor of the Parish of San Pedro Apostol in Tungkong Mangga in the City of San Jose del Monte during Ash Wednesday Mass is celebrated.
The Bishop also personally visited the injured and recovering at the Hospital, and the Parish of San Pedro Apostol to inspect it. In the part where ashes are being rubbed on the foreheads of the faithful, a sudden collapse of the second floor of the church occurred, killing one churchgoer and injuring nearly 50 people. The response of the Parish Priest of the church, Fr. Romulo Perez and their Parochial Vicar, Fr.Divino Albrin Cayanan. The response of the various rescue teams of the City of San Jose del Monte and even the surrounding barangay was also quick.
The church officials themselves also denied the spread news that the entire second floor of the church collapsed. According to them, only one part collapsed yesterday morning. The Bishop also requested the prayers of the faithful for the speedy recovery of all injured individuals. He also assured that all assistance will be done for all those affected.
The Bishop also ordered to check and ensure the structural condition of all the churches in the Diocese of Malolos especially with the approaching commemoration of the season of Lent.
