September 6, 2024 – The 38th National Meeting of Diocesan Directors of Liturgy (NMDDL) was held in the Diocese of Antipolo this September 2-6, 2024 despite the bad weather. It was attended by the directors of the Liturgy Commission of the Dioceses and their other accompanying delegates from different parts of the country. This year's theme is “Liturgy and the Jubilee Year 2025.”
This five-day meeting was initiated with the Evening Prayer and Holy Mass at the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Travel, presided over by the Most Reverend Ruperto C. Santos, Bishop of Antipolo. He said, "Only a passion for God's glory can still us to faithfully witness for God. This desire will give us the responsibility and ability to witness for Him. This witnessing is not meant to be done once in a while or whenever we like doing it; it is a day-to-day calling with great demands but with eternal rewards.”
The main speakers include Mons. Andres S. Valera, member of the Liturgy Commission of our diocese and current Parish Priest of Sto. Nino Parish in Meycauayan, Bulacan. Interview center of Mons. Valera is spreading and intensifying prayer through the liturgy within the community of a Parish. He was accompanied by various priests and laymen skilled in the liturgy such as Fr. Genaro Diwa, Fr. Regie Malicdem, Fr. Dennis Soriano, Fr. Oliver Yalung, Msgr. Boy Salvador Jr., and Dra. Josefina Manabat. Among the main delegates of our Diocese are Fr. Norby Gagui – the director of the Liturgy Commission of our diocese, Luis Francis Tan, Marvin Dalag, and Bernard Rosales. The interviews were held at the First Pacific Leadership Academy, on Sumulong Highway, Antipolo City.
The host diocese rotated the delegates to various churches of the Diocese of Antipolo including the Cathedral and International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, Diocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Mayamot, Antipolo City, Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Light in Cainta, and the Minor Basilica and Parish of St. John the Baptist in Taytay. At the end of the gathering, the directors of the various Liturgy Commissions discussed the changes in the way of celebrating and commemorating the feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz, San Pedro Calungsod, and Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno.
