Balitang Sandigan: BALIWAG SHRINE CELEBRATES ST. AUGUSTINE’S NATAL DAY (11.22.24)

Devotees of the San Agustin Shrine and Parish in Baliwag celebrated the 1670th birthday of San Agustin de Hippo on Sunday, November 13, 2024.
The celebration began with the praying of the rosary and prayer to San Agustin before the Holy Mass. It was led by Monsignor Manuel B. Villaroman, P.C., Parish Priest of Santa Monica Parish in Angat, together with Father Nap Baltazar, Father Edmund Santos, Father Carlo Mendoza and Father Narciso Sampana.

In his homily, Monsignor Villaroman said, "That is why he is called the Doctor of Grace because for him, all the good works of man are the grace of God. That is why he believes in the saying 'the mighty God of grace and the mighty grace of God.'"

On the first day of the triduo, the second annual replica procession was held which started at 5 pm. More than 100 images of San Agustin were paraded, including 17 images riding a tricycle and a chariot.

Although it was met with heavy rain, the devotees did not waver, showing strong faith and devotion to San Agustin.

There was also a public confession on the second and third day of the triduo, followed by a Holy Mass. Saint Augustine's birthday is also associated with the feast of all Augustinian Saints.
