Balitang Sandigan: FEBRUARY CLERGY RECOLLECTION: DISCUSSION ON INTEGRITY IN MINISTRY (02.17.25)

Guiguinto, Bulacan – The Clergy Recollection of the Diocese of Malolos was held at the Immaculate Conception Seminary Complex, Brgy. Tabe on February 17, 2025, with the theme "Integrity in Ministry: Living as Witnesses of Hope." This is part of the purpose of discussing in this year's talks the theme of the Jubilee Year of Hope and studying the Clergy Code of Ethics.

The sharing was led by Father Manny Cruz, Rector of the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary (ICMAS), and the entire gathering was moderated by the Vicar General of Malolos. In his message, Fr. Manny emphasized the importance of integrity in the life of a priest. He said, “Before we become transparent to other people, we must be mindful first in everything we do...Integrity of a priest is to be conformed to the mind and heart of Jesus.”

The recollection discussed the moral standards of the ministry, with an emphasis on openness, responsibility, and being an example of faith for the faithful.

At the end of this gathering, Most Rev. Dennis Villarojo, Bishop of Malolos, announced the conferral of the title of Pontifical Honor: Chaplains of His Holiness by His Holiness Pope Francis on six priests of the Diocese of Malolos in recognition of their long years of service to the Church. The honorees were: Rev. Monsignor Narciso S. Sampana, Rev. Monsignor Domingo M. Salonga, Rev. Monsignor Leocadio P. De Jesus, Rev. Monsignor Florentino S. Concepcion, Rev. Monsignor Javer M. Joaquin, and Rev. Monsignor Dario V. Cabral.

The Papal Chaplaincy is an honor bestowed by the Holy Father on priests aged 65 and above, in recognition of their faithful service. Since 2014, Pope Francis has designated this honor to be reserved only for senior clergy as a sign of gratitude and appreciation for their pastoral mission.

Throughout the history of the Church, Monsignors have played an important role in the Papal Curia and are considered part of the Papal Household. The conferment of this honor is a testament to the tireless efforts of the priests of the Diocese of Malolos in spreading the faith and setting a good example in their ministry.
The next Clergy Recollection will continue with the themes lined up for this year, which will further deepen the faith and service of the priests to their flock.
