Sandigan Kaalaman: EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD (04.19.25)

"As Christ was raised, so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:4)

This is the night of the Lord's victory, which is considered the "Mother of all Holy Evening Celebrations". The Church's expectation for the Resurrection of Christ is being held today, which is celebrated in the Sacraments. 

Therefore, the entire performance of this Evening Celebration should take place when it is dark and end before dawn. This night, we will light candles in preparation for the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus. 

Jesus rose again so that we can live in the new order according to the will of the Father. We will pay attention to Baptism, the Sacrament of our entry into the life of the risen Jesus.

This Evening Celebration is divided into four stages:

1.) The blessing of the fire and the honoring of the Paschal candle.
Here we recall the leading of the pillar of fire towards the promised land that we also receive in the Sacrament of Baptism. Christ is the new pillar of fire, the true light that guides us.
2.) The Church embodies all the wonderful things that God has done for the benefit of His people from the beginning; it is the proclamation of the Word of God. Here the so-called four nights of salvation according to Jewish tradition are remembered: a) The night of creation b) The night of Abraham which is the night of the covenant c) The night of Passover and the crossing of the Red Sea which is the night of salvation d) The night of the coming of the Messiah. All of this happened when Jesus was resurrected and occurs at every baptismal celebration.
3.) As the day of Resurrection approaches, the new members of the Church will be born again. This is through Baptism. Together with them, we will renew our baptismal promise.
4.) The entire Church is invited to attend the banquet, which the Lord prepared for His people in the benefit of His death and resurrection which is the summit of the sacrament and of our Christian life.
