October 1 – More than 400 ministers of the Commission on Social Communications (SOCCOM) of parishes covered by the Diocese gathered at Dr. Yanga's Colleges, Inc. for a workshop to hone their respective skills in different fields. Entitled SHARPEN: Skills Harnessing for Pastoral Ministry and Evangelization, this workshop is the third of four Diocesan-wide formation events this year initiated by the Diocesan Commission on Social Communications (DCSC). "Many SOCCOM ministers would like to improve how they serve but they don't exactly know how. On the other hand, our diocese has many local talents who not only have the trainings and experiences, but also have the time and the heart to share their knowledge and best practices (in their field of work)," said Kptd. Jonalyn Villafuerte, Special Events Manager of DCSC. "This event was organized to form a link among SOCCOM ministers from different parishes to hopefully help and teach each other about several social communications efforts." The Morning Sessions were led by speakers Rev. Fr. Joseph Franz Dizon, Chairman of the DCSC, for his talk on the Diocesan Guidelines on Live Streaming & Events Coverage; and Mrs. Mariz Umali, seasoned news anchor and journalist of GMA News & Public Affairs, for her talk titled "Creating Catholic Contents: Principles and Important Considerations Today." In the afternoon there were nine breakout sessions that discussed the different skills used by SOCCOM ministers: Team Management; Digital Photography; Digital Videography; Mobile Photography; Mobile Videography; Film Editing; Animation & Advanced Effects; Layouting & Style Guide; and News & Feature Writing. The said breakout sessions were led by various SOCCOM ministers inside and outside the Diocese who possess knowledge in their respective fields. "God blessed DCSC with Fr. Franz, Ms. Mariz Umali, and all our workshop facilitators," said Kptd. Jonalyn. "The effectiveness of the skills formation will of course rely now on all those who attended and in the hands of God. Armed with the new learnings and inspirations obtained from SHARPEN, our SOCCOM ministers will now have to work.” PROCLAIM, the fourth and final DCSC workshop for this year, will be held in December. #AngSandiganMalolos ================= Visit our Website and Follow our Social Media Platforms!
