On September 17, 2024, the Parish of San Francisco of Assisi in the City of Meycauayan launched the “Brown Tuesday Devotion”. Its purpose is to dedicate the day of Tuesday to devotion to their patron, in connection with the 800th year of receiving the Lord's wounds or stigmata.
According to the Liturgy and Pastoral Advisory Commission of the parish, the purpose of this weekly devotion is to intensify and spread devotion to him and to be an example of service to God and others.
Every Tuesday, the parish will hold a novena and pray to San Francisco of Assisi after the Holy Mass celebrated at 7 in the morning. All attendees are encouraged to wear brown, the color of the Franciscan dress.
The Liturgy Board is also set to launch other activities that will help spread devotion to San Francisco. This includes the procession of his image every first Tuesday of the month and bringing it to schools, hospitals, and offices under the jurisdiction of the parish. Also studying the initiation of activities related to the study and work of the patron saint of nature and animals, such as clean-up drives, tree planting, and pet days.
