Balitang Sandigan: DIGITIZATION OF PARISH RECORDS DISCUSSED AT OCTOBER PRIESTS’ RECOLLECTION (10.26.24)

The monthly Clergy Recollection discussed the "Digitization of Church Records" in the parishes on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Gymnasium of the Immaculate Conception Seminary Complex, Guiguinto.

Father RJ Brion, Chancellor of the Diocese of Malolos, discussed the realization of the "Digitization of Church Records" which is an initiative of the Ecclesiastical Province of Manila to facilitate the system of obtaining documents related to the record of receiving the sacraments.

In response, some priests expressed their questions and suggestions, as well as some doubts and objections. Bishop Dennis Villarojo explained the pastoral reason of this initiative. "Digitization is a response to a pastoral need of the people. The main reason is spiritual: to assist the faithful to have access to the sacraments," he said.

In the program, the Commission on Clergy, led by Father Efren Basco, Father John Paul Jickain and Father Chi Go, also shared the message of the synodal gathering for Parish Priests. According to Father Basco, "The Holy Father recognizes the value of the dedication of parish priests for the growth of the Church."

Before everything, the priests prayed together in the Minor Seminary Chapel while the Blessed Sacrament was performed. After the program, the attendees shared lunch.

It was attended by 145 priests from the entire Diocese of Malolos.
