The Parish of San Francisco of Assisi in the City of Meycauayan held the annual Procession of the Franciscan Saints on Saturday, October 5, 2024. It was attended by about thirty images of saints from the three Franciscan orders as part of the parish's Closing Feast.
This coincides with the commemoration of the 446th year of the arrival of Christianity in Meycauayan and the 800th year of receiving the wounds of Christ by their saint, San Francisco of Assisi.
On October 4, the feast day of San Franciso, Bishop Dennis Villarojo led the morning Mass Mayor. In the evening, the procession of the patrons of Meycauayan was carried out for the first time, in collaboration with the five parishioners of the Parish of San Francisco of Assisi.
The exhibit titled "Franciscanism and Meycauayan: Art, History and Folklore" closed on the same day, which featured key references about the role of the Franciscan Order in the founding of Meycauayan.
The presidents of the 12 SPPCs of the parish served as the brotherhood for this year's festival. Meycauayan is also currently preparing for the 450th year of its founding in 2028.
